The laboratory demonstration answers important questions about WATER. What are its typical properties? Why can ships float motionless, but people cannot? Why is it so important? These and more questions are the focus of this element-related demonstration.

The experiments explain the essential properties of FIRE and demonstrate them vividly. What are the possibilities for extinguishing a fire and are there different colors of flames? All this can be discovered in this laboratory demonstration.

The State Museum of Technology Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offers a range of formats for birthday parties that will enrich any celebration – whether as an alchemist, detective, researcher or apprentice welder.
And of course, the birthday boy or girl gets in for free!
You are welcome to consume food, cakes and drinks that you have brought with you in our cafeteria. However, we would like to point out that you should leave the area tidy and dispose of any rubbish that arises.
Afterwards, or even before, you can of course explore the museum independently!
Have you always wondered what the “Philosopher's Stone” is all about? What happened in the dark laboratories of the Middle Ages? We invite you to come with us on a journey through time and into the mysterious world of alchemy, where you can also conduct experiments of your own. But be careful: risk of explosion!
Experience an exciting discovery tour through our museum. Tricky questions and exciting tasks await you all around the phanTECHNIKUM. If you manage to complete all the missions, you have the chance to find the museum treasure at the end! Well, do you fancy taking on this challenge?

Approach selected exhibits and learn what they are all about through special stories. Not all of the stories are true. Vote and find out as a team whether someone is telling porkies!
Experience a bird's eye view of Northwest Mecklenburg and Wismar!
Originally developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research as a training simulator for ground effect vehicles, the flight simulator has been part of our permanent exhibition since summer 2023. As a “work in progress” project by a school group from the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Gymnasium, it enriches the exhibition with a unique interactive element that will continue to develop as the museum does. Learn all about the historical development and technical aspects of this special means of transportation.
To offer our visitors an impressive and undisturbed experience, the flight simulator is now also available to book for groups. Whether you are looking for a school, team event, club or the perfect place for an unforgettable children's birthday party, our flight simulator offers an exciting experience for all age groups.
Take control of a virtual aircraft and test your flying skills in a realistic environment over Wismar and Northwest Mecklenburg. From take-off to landing, experience the fascination of flying in a high-tech flight simulator.
Notes on group size, prices & times
Due to the flight time of approx. 5 minutes, the flight simulator is perfect for smaller groups, up to a maximum of 10 people. We recommend that larger (school) groups split up, for example as part of a guided tour of the museum, so that they can take advantage of the offer in peace.
The cost of the flight simulator is €30/h (plus admission).
