laboratory demonstrations

Our laboratory demonstrates exciting experiments and takes you on a journey into the fantastic world of chemistry. You can choose between the offers: “The Beginnings of Chemistry”, “The Element Water and its Properties” and the “Fiery Laboratory Experiments”! The offers can be booked, but can also take place during vacation periods or special events and theme days.

Air – invisible and yet everywhere

This laboratory demonstration brings the subject of AIR a little closer. In order to make it visible, its forces and effects are shown, and with that, its significance for nature and humans.

The element of water and its properties

The laboratory demonstration answers important questions about WATER. What are its typical properties? Why can ships float motionless, but people cannot? Why is it so important? These and more questions are the focus of this element-related demonstration.

Fiery laboratory experiments

The experiments explain the essential properties of FIRE and demonstrate them vividly. What are the possibilities for extinguishing a fire and are there different colors of flames? All this can be discovered in this laboratory demonstration.

Classic paper rally

New layout and content: The classic rally has been revised, with the new “EARTH” section.
Target group: For all school classes up to upper school.
School level division: 1st to 11th grade

Digitale Rallyes via Actionbound

Multilingualism: Currently available in 11 languages (German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Danish, Swedish, Dutch).
Target group: For all age groups, with a special focus on elementary school.
Special features for elementary school (1st + 2nd grade and 3rd + 4th grade): Voice output for internal differentiation of reading skills.

What is done:
Pupils explore the entire permanent exhibition with the help of quiz questions that guide them through the exhibition in a linear fashion. The digital rallies also include small hands-on tasks and background information.

Target group: Families, leisure groups and individual guests.
Offer: These rallies are similar to those for school classes, but can be booked by all visitors.

Digital scavenger hunt via Actionbound (QR tour)

Target group: All visitors, from families and leisure groups to individuals.
How it works: Visitors have to find and scan snippets of objects in the exhibition to decode QR codes. Each discovery brings exciting background information and anecdotes about the objects.

What is done:
Visitors explore the exhibition using a scavenger hunt in which they have to find objects using clues and photos. By scanning QR codes, they learn more about the objects and collect points.

children's birthdays

The State Museum of Technology Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offers a range of formats for birthday parties that will enrich any celebration – whether as an alchemist, detective, researcher or apprentice welder.
And of course, the birthday boy or girl gets in for free!

You are welcome to consume food, cakes and drinks that you have brought with you in our cafeteria. However, we would like to point out that you should leave the area tidy and dispose of any rubbish that arises.

Afterwards, or even before, you can of course explore the museum independently!

The Nutty Laboratory

Have you always wondered what the “Philosopher's Stone” is all about? What happened in the dark laboratories of the Middle Ages? Through exciting experiments, you will learn more about the discovery of fire and how the scientists of the past tried to unlock the secrets of nature. In our laboratory, it's not just about watching - you become researchers yourselves and experiment with exciting chemical reactions.
We invite you to join us on a journey through time into the mysterious world of alchemy and to experiment yourself. But beware: danger of explosion!

You will explore the museum in a playful way, solve exciting puzzles and master challenges together. The hidden treasure is the highlight of the tour and ensures that this day remains unforgettable for you. “Sherlock Holmes” and ‘The 3 Investigators’ are history - now it's your turn! We are looking for new professional sleuths who are ready to take on an explosive challenge. At the children's birthday party at the phanTECHNIKUM, you have the chance to solve an exciting case together.
Pass the detective test together and prove your flair in solving an explosive case. As a team, you will be faced with tricky tasks and mysterious puzzles. Step by step, you will collect clues, decipher mysterious messages and get closer and closer to the culprit.

Approach selected exhibits and learn what they are all about through special stories. Not all of the stories are true. Vote and find out as a team whether someone is telling porkies!
