„Fahrradies“ receives funding from OSPA
The Technical State Museum Meckleburg-Vorpommern has received generous funding from the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung and thus also from the Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Nordwest for the final, concluding part of the exhibition project „Fahrradies“. This allows the multifaceted permanent exhibition on bicycle history, cycling culture, and the mobility of the future to be fully realized.
During the festive presentation of the funding yesterday, Wednesday, July 8, at the phanTECHNIKUM, Kay Facklam (Chairman of the Management Board of the Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Nordwest), Mario Löscher (Head of the Board Staff/Organisation Department of the Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Nordwest), Thomas Beyer (Mayor of the Hansestadt Wismar), and Michael Rahnfeld (Director & Managing Director of the Technisches Landesmuseum MV) were present.
The funding from the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung, together with the Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Nordwest, is of central importance to the Technisches Landesmuseum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as it enables the complete implementation of the third and final building block in the permanent exhibition area „ERDE“, thereby completing the entire bicycle exhibition at the phanTECHNIKUM.
The first section was already opened in 2022 and is dedicated to bicycle history from a technical and cultural-historical perspective. The second thematic area, focusing on cycling in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is currently in its final stages of implementation and will be officially opened on August 7, 2026. It highlights the diversity of regional cycling – from cycle ball, road cycling, and artistic cycling to Tonnenabschlagen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The third and final part, funded by the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung and the Sparkasse Mecklenburg-Nordwest, is dedicated to the future of cycling: the centerpiece will be an immersive cycling simulation. The scenarios lead through topics such as urban development, health, and mobility, making the infrastructural conditions of bicycle traffic tangible.
