Looking back at the Oldtimer-Rallye 2026
Blessed with glorious summer weather, the Technisches Landesmuseum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern hosted its annual Oldtimer-Rallye on 20 June 2026!
With a total of 115 historic vehicles gathering in the museum courtyard and exactly 90 vehicles taking part in the annual parade, the upward trend of recent years was firmly unlocked. Despite the tropical temperatures, there was plenty on offer for the nearly 300 participants and spectators in attendance. Berlin-based photographer Marc Kairies was on-site with his historic Camara Minutera, capturing unique portraits in the style of the 1910s. The interactive stand hosted by the Verkehrswacht Wismar e.V. also made a welcome return. Of course, culinary delights were not short in supply either: our museum café, "phanPRANDIUM", delighted drivers and spectators alike with refreshing drinks and premium snacks.
As the traditional highlight of the day, the closing ceremony celebrating the Oldtimer-Rallye's top participants was a must. Popular special categories were also awarded once again. For instance, a 1926 D-Rad R04 and a 1940s DKW F8 were named the oldest vehicles in the two-wheel and four-wheel categories, respectively, while the special prize for the "Furthest Journey" went to a participant who traveled all the way from East Frisia.
The phanTECHNIKUM-Oldtimer-Rallye continues to prove its steady turnout, evolving more and more into an event of connection, community, and entertainment that is gaining renown well beyond town and state borders. This was also beautifully reflected in the wide age range among the drivers, spanning from 17 to 90 years old! The museum team would like to thank all supporters, partners, and participants for another highly successful event celebrating historic vehicles. We are already looking forward to the 12th Oldtimer-Rallye next year in 2027 – featuring a fresh, varied route, a vibrant programme, and hopefully slightly more comfortable temperatures!
Sincere thanks go to Ing.-Butzirus for their generous support, to the Schlossgut Groß Schwansee estate for serving as the picturesque finish line of our Oldtimer-Rallye route, and to the Hochschule Wismar university for kindly providing the deck chairs.
