MADE IN MV

Controversial discourse on technological achievements is as old and legitimate as the use of these achievements. As third places, museums in particular offer spaces for participation for a heterogeneous audience with constantly transforming demands. Empirical studies show that museums have a significant influence on their audience: museum content is not passively consumed or uncritically accepted, but rather processed in an active process in the museum and life experience of the visitors.

For this reason, the State Museum of Technology of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is keen to showcase and discuss current technical innovation processes in regional companies in the fields of business and industry, start-ups and private initiatives in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and to highlight their future prospects.

The FOKUS: INNOVATION project creates a link between the State Museum of Technology's historical collection and current technical achievements and innovative impulses and, as a place to raise awareness, offers opportunities to engage in an active dialog with developments.

By juxtaposing historical patent highlights and their developments with contemporary issues of global sustainability, this process is to be brought together in the museum in analog and digital form and opened up to a wide audience. In the field of tension between greenwashing and greenbashing, the project counters populist trends and focuses on regional innovations that offer solutions to global problems.

To this end, a modular exhibition system is being created, the content of which can be modified at any time and presented in the form of cabinet exhibitions. The FOKUS: INNOVATION project will be funded in 2024 as part of the “TransformD” funding program of the German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering.
